  • Viewers have the option to dismiss ads or learn more about them.

YouTube has started displaying ads on the pause screen for smart TV users. In 2023, YouTube said it would introduce ads on paused screens. It claimed that the update will enable brands to engage viewers and promote their brand when videos are paused.

Now, the feature is being rolled out to smart TVs. Users can now view ads when they pause a video on YouTube’s TV app.

How it works

When a user pauses a video, it will display in a small window on the left side of the screen, while a “Sponsored” ad with the advertiser’s name and logo will show on the right side. Users have the option to dismiss or learn more about these ads.
