Highlights

  • Google is now testing ads in its AI-generated overviews on mobile search results in the U.S.
  • Users first noticed the change over the weekend, with screenshots shared online.
  • This test follows months of hints from Google about integrating ads into AI summaries.

Google has begun integrating ads in its AI Overviews, with early sightings reported in U.S. mobile search results.

Search Engine Land reported that users have started noticing the change. According to the platform, Advertiser, James F. Gibbons shared an example on X over the weekend. In his post titled “Paid Listings within AI Overviews,” he included a screenshot showing a sponsored listing integrated into the AI-generated summary.

Google has been hinting at this development for months. Last month, the company confirmed that U.S. mobile search results would soon display ads in AI Overviews. However, availability appears to be in a testing phase, and not all users may see the ads yet.
