Highlights:

  • Google is launching AI-organized search results pages in the U.S. this week, starting with mobile search.
  • The new feature displays a mix of content formats such as articles, videos, and forum discussions, all in one place.

In addition to rolling out ads in AI Overviews and its Lens feature to display product information during searches, Google is rolling out ‘AI-organized’ search results.

This new feature will change how users see their search results. Google’s announcement highlights this change, “This week, we’re rolling out search results pages organized with AI in the U.S. — beginning with recipes and meal inspiration on mobile. You’ll now see a full-page experience, with relevant results organized just for you. You can easily explore content and perspectives from across the web, including articles, videos, forums, and more — all in one place.”

Instead of just ranking links, this new setup groups content by subcategories. Users will get a full page of tailored content, including articles, videos, and discussions related to their search. The feature is initially available on mobile for recipe-related searches but will soon expand to more categories, but Google says “no further details” on when the expansion will begin.

According to Google, the update is to provide users with more sources of information and diverse perspectives. “We can start categorizing this content for you in ways that we previously could not have, and not only that, but we can also create a lot more density in terms of content as well,” Rhiannon Bell, VP of user experience for Google, Search, said.
