Highlights
- Google Ads introduces “Conversation Started” for users to reach advertisers via WhatsApp.
- It measures when users click on message assets and start conversations on WhatsApp.
- The feature is currently limited to selected advertisers.
Google Ads has introduced a new conversion action called “Conversation Started.” The update will let advertisers track user interactions with WhatsApp message assets in ads.
According to Search Engine Land, the “Conversation Started” action is automatically created by Google when message assets are enabled in campaigns. Confirming the feature launch, Google’s Ads Product Liaison Ginny Marvin said “A click on the message extension on your ad results in a message sent, and Google will report a conversation was started.”
This means that users are directed to an advertiser’s WhatsApp page when they click on a message asset in the advertiser’s ad. The tool is currently available in Beta to selected advertisers.
Google Ads message assets allow businesses to link their ads directly to WhatsApp. Currently, these assets are supported in Search and Performance Max campaigns in select markets.
